We offer white tooth-colored fillings for children who develop cavities. Even with regular brushing and flossing, children can develop cavities, especially in areas where the teeth have tight contacts or deep grooves. Your child’s diet may also impact their susceptibility to developing cavities. Dr. John and his team utilize the latest technology which makes placing white fillings easy and comfortable. These composite tooth-colored fillings provide an excellent alternative to the antiquated silver fillings, which we do not provide in our office. These subtle fillings blend naturally with surrounding teeth.
At Harbor Pediatric Dentistry, we offer two different types of crowns for when children have cavities that are too large for traditional fillings. Baby teeth have thinner enamel and are more brittle than permanent teeth, so with larger cavities, a crown may be the best long-term solution to keep teeth healthy and pain-free. We offer both stainless steel crowns and porcelain (EZ Pedo Zirconia) crowns. Stainless steel crowns typically offer the best long-term solution for our families, while the porcelain crowns can be used in select aesthetic cases. With either type of crown, we are able to preserve the normal chewing and speech functions of our patients.
